Herbs

HerbsHere are some of my herbs. The parsley is going wild, self seeding with no end in site.

The oregano recovered well after some pretty ruthless weeding, and the thyme is recovering from the tenants neglect. the new chives are doing so-so. They’re supposed to be irrepressible but I’ve always managed to repress them.

The mint is healthy and hearty. From memory it doesn’t do too well in summer. I’ll try to keep the water up.

Sage is doing okay but that’s always problematic for me. Ditto basil. The coriander is dead. Trying basil and coriander from seed to beat their tempermental nature.

These basil seedlings are about 3 weeks old, planted from seed. That lettuce, silverbeet and celery were put in on the 13th of Nov.

Update 4 May 2011: The basil was (is) amazing. Lots of pesto, bruchetta and general devouring has taken place continually. The lettuce suffered in the heat wave (will mulch next time and install shade cloth earlier). Silverbeet is still producing and the celery lives on but suffered a drawnout aphid attack.
