Ginger Shoot

Ginger ShootThis lone ginger shoot appeared with zero fanfare yesterday afternoon (or that’s when I first spotted it). This morning it still is the only shoot from all that ginger I planted in the 2 different beds (the ginger bed and the sunflower bed). I planted in 2 rounds, Nov 23 & 27. This one is from the batch on the 27th (they came from the grocery store with sprouts already evident) which means it is 3 1/2 weeks in the ground. It’s in the ginger bed and gets virtually no sunshine.

My recollection from when I planted ginger in Darwin is that it takes forever for them to break through the ground. Add that to my bit of research on the web yesterday where I found it takes 4-5 weeks for ginger to shoot and I think I’m right on track.
