Mandarins

mandarin treeThe mandarins are just starting to ripen. We’ve been eating the early birds from our tree for a week or so now. This year it looks like we’ll get a huge crop.

In early summer Frank installed an upside down juice bottle to let us water the roots during the drought. So far it looks like it’s worked a treat, the fruit is really juicy.

It’s more good luck than good planning I’d say but we’re harvesting this fruit just after the bananas finished. And the great news is the lemons are starting to ripen and the oranges are coming on well (but they won’t ripen for months yet). I think our garden’s going to be giving us fruit for many months out of the year.
